For people who belong to the LGBTQ scene, the question is not only whether they would rather relax on the beach or dive into the nightlife. When choosing a travel destination, supporters of the LGBTQ community are mainly concerned with the fact that they are welcome at the vacation destination and can be as they feel without having to expect rejection or even legal consequences. In our Travel Tip you can find out where you can go on vacation relaxed and carefree!

Malta: not only sunny, but also progressive

The archipelago of Malta has become one of the most progressive countries in terms of rights and acceptance of LGBTQ people and therefore makes the beginning in our Travel Tip. Malta is one of the few countries that has guaranteed equality for LGBTQ people in its constitution, which is why we can fully recommend Malta in our Travel Tip.

Malta has spectacular scenery, such as the Blue Grotto, the cliffs of Dingli Cliffs and the bays of Gozo. Malta is also an excellent destination for divers, as you will find fascinating dive sites, such as wrecks from the Second World War. Malta's underwater world is very fascinating due to numerous caves, grottos and coral reefs. The archipelago is located in a sunny climate zone with mild winters and hot summers. Malta is the perfect destination if you want to soak up a lot of sun.

Denmark: beautiful coasts and beaches especially for LGBTQ supporters

Denmark should not be missing in our travel tip, because this country shows a particularly tolerant attitude towards the LGBTQ community. Every year in August, the Pride Festival takes place in Copenhagen, which attracts visitors from all over the world.

The most popular destination for LGBTQ supporters within Denmark is the city of Copenhagen. Especially in the area of "Studiestræde" you will find numerous clubs, bars and stores that are particularly LGBTQ-friendly and where you can plunge into an active nightlife.

Denmark also boasts breathtaking nature, where you can enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking. In the summer, you can relax on one of the numerous beaches, some of which are relevant destinations within the LGBTQ community, such as Bellevue Beach in Klampenborg or Halvandet Beach in Copenhagen.

New Zealand: Auckland and Wellington are particularly LGBTQ-friendly

New Zealand has earned a place in our Travel Tip not only because of its breathtaking nature, but also because of its active LGBTQ community. Especially in big cities like Auckland and Wellington you will find LGBTQ-friendly bars and clubs. Pride events are held several times a year in New Zealand, such as the Auckland Pride Festival in February and the Wellington Pride Festival in March. For many years, New Zealand has had laws that protect and support LGBTQ people.

Also at this location of our Travel Tip you can enjoy different outdoor activities like hiking, biking and skiing. If you prefer to relax in the summer, you will find two famous beaches for gay men at Piha Beach in Auckland and Oriental Bay in Wellington.

Portugal: diverse LGBTQ community in Lisbon

Uruguay: Active LGBTQ community and welcoming beaches

Uruguay is a progressive and tolerant country and should therefore not be missing in our travel tip! Especially in Montevideo you will find an active and diverse LGBTQ scene with a number of bars and clubs. Portugal also has events for the LGBTQ scene, such as the Marcha por la Diversidad, which takes place annually in September and is the largest LGBTQ event in the country.

Spain: Party hotspots or city break?

Spain leaves you spoiled for choice: city break or party? The cities of Barcelona and Madrid are considered particularly LGBTQ-friendly and have an active scene with numerous bars, clubs and stores. They also host annual Pride events.

Gran Canaria is one of the most popular gay hotspots in Europe, just like Sitges. Here you can not only relax on the beach, but also turn night into day in one of the numerous bars and clubs. But not only here you will find inviting beaches, but also in Barcelona.

Iceland: Relaxation in breathtaking nature

This location of our travel tip is especially known for its breathtaking nature. In Iceland you will find spectacular waterfalls, geysers and glaciers. If you want to relax on vacation, you should visit one of the numerous geometric pools.

If you are more interested in an active nightlife, the capital Reykjavik is the right place for you. Here you will find an LGBTQ-friendly scene with a variety of bars, clubs and restaurants. A number of Pride events also take place in Reykjavik every year.
