The highway 72
The A72 is a 169 kilometer long federal highway, which is located in the border area of the states of Saxony, Bavaria and Thuringia. It begins at the "Bayerisches Vogtland" interchange near Hof, which you can reach via the A9. From here, you drive in a northeasterly direction past Plauen and Zwickau to Chemnitz.
The highway changes direction at this point, as you continue on the A72 northwest to the Leipzig-Süd interchange. Until 2026, a section of the autobahn on this route is still under construction, so you may be driving a few kilometers on a substitute road instead of the autobahn.
Gay Cruising on the A72
There are currently two areas for gay cruising on the A72. The Mühlbachtal parking lot is located near the community of Mühlau. From here it is only about 15 kilometers to Chemnitz. The Harthsee is located near Borna. The small town is located about 30 kilometers south of Leipzig. Due to the proximity of the gay cruising areas to the two major cities, there is a great chance to meet numerous men at the locations. Certainly, some travelers from the Federal Republic or neighboring countries also pass by.
