If you don't feel like going to the cinema, you can also make sure that you don't get bored watching movies on your couch at home. There are currently many different LGBTQIA+ series and movies that are definitely worth watching.

Some of them are comparatively new, others can be streamed for several weeks or months already. One thing is certain: The visibility of the community has grown more and more over the course of the last few years. This is ultimately also reflected in the wide range of films and series on offer. Of course, this is not only aimed at queers, but also at people in general who want to broaden their horizons.

In the course of time, they partly develop feelings for each other. As a result, they come to terms with their identities and ultimately ask themselves whether they could possibly be queer. Many viewers find it particularly pleasant that the topic of sexuality is always latently resonating here, but there are many other frame stories that make the entire series an absolute must see.

Blue Is A Warm Color An Older LGBTQIA+ Series And Movies Tip

This film is already more than ten years old and is still one of the absolute classics of the genre. In the course of time, however, there have also been critical voices again and again - especially because in "Blue is a warm color"comparatively many sex scenes are to be seen.

The film focuses on the lesbian love between Adèle and a girl she meets on the street. Until this meeting, Adèle was not yet aware that she might be queer. The plot is - in the view of some critics - less profound than erotic. But: those who are in the mood for a happy ending should perhaps choose a different film. Because: Adèle and her affair are not granted a common future.

Call Me By Your Name

"Call Me By Your Name" takes its viewers to the Italy of the 1980s. In this film, everything revolves around the love that the two men Elio and Oliver feel for each other. The younger of the two, Elio, spends his vacation together with his parents. Oliver, a graduate student who is supposed to support Elio's father on site, evokes skepticism at the beginning... partly because Oliver seems anything but nice. Eventually, however, it becomes apparent that the two have more feelings for each other. They spend more and more time together.

The viewer gains insight into just about every level of emotion that becomes important to the protagonists.

Oskar's Dress" is about a trans girl and the question of how parents deal with the Transsexuality of their child. It is one of the few films that deal with the topic of queerness in childhood. If you feel like thinking outside the box and have never dealt with the topic before, this is the right film for you.

And don't worry: the story about Oskar's dress is not short on humor either. A single father is faced with completely new challenges from one moment to the next. His son is no longer in the mood for "typical boy's clothes" and - as the film title suggests - prefers to wear a dress. In the course of time, Oskar calls himself "Lilli" and meets with more and less enthusiasm from the people around him.

Boys don't cry

Boys don't cry tells the true story of Brandon Teena. Brandon is a transsexual man who becomes the victim of rape in the mid-1990s and is subsequently murdered. The film seems frighteningly realistic and offers insight into the emotional world of a very special person.

One can only imagine the pressure transsexuals were subjected to back then... and some of them still are today. The importance of the topic is shown, among other things, by the star cast. Hilary Swank, for example, is part of the cast. She plays the lead role.
